Pitching/Defense:

Logging more innings than the last two seasons combined, Chop’s left handed slider gave batters all kinds of fits last summer.   While you have to hesitate in comparing him to another well known (and dominate) southpaw out in Eagan, their K-rate and BAA are much more similar than you’d initially think.

Batting/Baserunning

Even amidst a sub-par batting average year, Matt still ranked in the top 10 for RBI and Runs in the league.  Don’t fool yourself; he’s as tough as he ever was with the good ole Chop Stick ™

2007 Outlook:

Every year we allude to Chops’ high end closer potential.  He’s shown he has the stuff, but the opportunities just haven’t been there.  Regardless, look for more innings from the multi-dimensional slugger in 2007, as his pitching numbers may be too good for the Braves to ignore.
